Here are the steps to follow after losing a driving license:
Step 1: Lodge a complaint
You need to file a report at a police station after you lose the license. This needs to be done in an area where you have lost the license. The jurisdiction handled by the police station should be relevant. Some Indian cities like Delhi, allow you to lodge a complaint about any lost items online. This has introduced convenience and transparency in the process.
Step 2: Get a stamped affidavit.
The second step after lodging a police complaint is to get an affidavit about the same. This will help you declare the lost license officially. The job of an affidavit is to prove that you took an oath before a notary public or any other relevant authority that you have indeed lost your license.
To get an affidavit made, you need to pay the required fees by consulting the notary and stamp officer regarding the cost.
