LIC is the biggest and renowned insurance company in India that has maintained its top position from the last 60 years. And a LIC agent is the one who encourages its customers to purchase required poLICies. Every year LIC releases notification through its official website in the month of September for vacancies which are bifurcated regionally. Many people aspire to work for this prestigious firm. Becoming a LIC agent is suitable for those who have the aspirations to excel in business, soon after they complete higher secondary education. This exam comprises of 150 questions and the total marks allotted is 150. In this article, we have tried to explain in details of LIC agent exam syllabus and the preparation methodology.

How to proceed for LIC agent exam

Eligibility Criteria– Before appearing for the examination, the appLICants need to have 50 hours long training for two to three days, at any training centre of the LIC department. The knowledge of all the aspects related to the life insurance business is imparted to the candidates in the training. Before appearing for the examination, candidates must have to clear their 12th class exam from any certified board of education and the required age is 18 years or above.

Register for exam– There are two ways to register for the LIC agent exam. Either register yourself through the official online portal of IRDAI or you can register with the nearest branch of LIC office by filling up the form.

Select the region- Search online before filling up the form because the exam pattern is different for specific areas.

Analyse the exam pattern- Knowing about the purpose of the exam is the first thing you should do before start preparing for it. Go through and analyze the framework of the examination and time allotted for each section carefully.

Study Plan- Setting up a proper study plan is very essential when you start preparing for any exam. Prepare a list of topics that are difficult to cover, give maximum time to focus on those topics and give separate time for the topics you have good command. The overall study plan comprises of all the topics covered in a timely manner.

Reasoning Section: For this section, you must focus on topics like Syllogism, Inequality, Seating arrangements, Coding-Decoding and logical reasoning to score qualifying marks in the exam. Follow questions pattern from books, live sessions, video lectures and study materials available online. Solve previous year’s question paper to get an idea of what type of questions are asked.

Quantitative Aptitude: Apply your own tricks to solve the questions, which will help you in saving your time, and answering questions with efficiency. In this section, you will be tested for the skills in your specialized field. So, follow video lectures and books for understanding the topics better.

General Awareness: Refer to e-books for Static G.K and current affairs to be updated with the current happenings in the world. Also, try to make notes of relevant topics from newspapers and blogs which you can revise later on for your exam.

English/Hindi section: Solve questions from the mock tests and focus more on solving concepts like fillers, close tests, a vocabulary section, and phrase replacement.

Qualifying in this section will help you to score the cut off marks, as it is a scoring subject, therefore you can focus more on this section. English language/Hindi language is for 30 marks and the score of these subjects will not be counted in the final merit list.
